HUDSON YARDS

New York, New York

Take in the stunning sunsets and views of the Hudson River as you step foot into the foyer of this bright and light-filled two-bedroom apartment with 10-foot ceilings.  The deep plum, berry, orange and citron hues of the ever-changing night sky were the inspiration for the color palette throughout this stylish high-rise apartment.  The mix of colors, textures, glass, metals, and woods were the added layers that made this not a city dwelling but a home.

The custom sofa and daybed in durable velvet is lush without being too fussy and the custom rug plays perfectly with the balance of color throughout.

The oak flooring that leads into the sleek open kitchen boasts a white Carrara marble island and counters with white oak wood cabinetry.  Ease and comfort guided the design especially with a family that is always in motion and loves to cook, so maintaining the open, welcoming feel in the common areas was a key aspect of the overall design.

The tubular fixture over the island draws your eyes towards the complementary three-tiered hand-blown dining fixture in shades of orange, blue and purple. The upholstered banquette in a blended wool stripe and oval glass table allowed for an easy flow as the family loves to linger over home-cooked meals.  The lack of a rug beneath promotes convivial evenings that are anything but formal.

At a moment when home is more important than ever, creating a calming space to rest was paramount to the design of the primary suite.  The serene and sophisticated palette of violets and soft greys created an airy environment  to allow one to hit pause, unwind and take comfort at the end of the day.  To finish the room Steves designed custom dresser and nightstands in lacquered periwinkle with their natural wood Ziricote fronts becoming the perfect punctuation points to the room.

The “tween” girl’s room was about transitioning from little girls into a room that accommodates all of their many needs, from video, dance to roller-blading.  The subtle introduction of the pinks were soft enough that they could almost be white while adding the shades of grey making the room just cool enough to hang-out!
