ABOUT BONNIE

Bonnie J. Steves is the founding principal of award-winning BJS-Assoc Interior Design. She is known for creating modern living spaces for her clients, with a gentle nod towards classicism. Having worked on projects from coast-to-coast in the U.S., as well as internationally, Bonnie’s clients and their needs are always at the forefront of each project. The designs she creates are known for the risks they take, as well as for their twist of whimsy and humor!

Bonnie’s remarkable eye for detail makes every project unique and inspired, and often ignites a robust dialogue amongst those that enjoy her design sensitivity.

For Bonnie, a passion for interior design is a direct extension of her considerable experience in other design disciplines. Her career has spanned fashion, styling, and major corporate event planning. And clients have included The Oscars, Tiffany & Co, Giorgio, Escada, Mattel, Nissan, Young President's Organization, Chrysler, and the City of Beverly Hills. Bonnie’s entrée to interior design began by working with famed interior designer and industry icon Larry Laslo where she was exposed to every discipline of the design business, including textile and licensing, prior to opening her own firm in 2009.

Bonnie also devotes a considerable amount of her time and talents to numerous charitable causes. She was one of a handful of selected designers given the opportunity to design a permanent bedroom/bathroom installation for the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Project Design 2014 where her inspired work won the Hospitality Honorable Mention for the Hansgrohe + Axor Das Design competition.

She was also a featured designer in the prominent Kips Bay Boys & Girls Decorator Show House in New York, where she created a unique and fun laundry room that maximized space and color. Bonnie was part of a select group of designers selected to design tables capes for the Lenox Hill Spring Gala and designer rooms for Bailey House’s Gala and Auction and Housing Works Design on a Dime. She was also given the challenge of designing The Benjamin Moore booth at the Architectural Digest Design Show with the specific task of highlighting the Benjamin Moore color of the year, Caliente.

Bonnie has the pleasure of working every day in a business she loves and one of her favorite quotes is from Coco Chanel, "I am a worker, not a talker, and I am going to work."
